As many of you know, what the Americans call Marzen vs. what the Germans call it are quite different. The American version (think Samuel Adams Oktoberfest) tends to be fairly dark amber with a overly caramel flavor (think crystal malts) but still a nice malty character. The German versions tend to to lighter (copper) and definitely more balanced with more noble hop character and less overly sweet malts. Both styles have their place but I was wondering which ones are your favorite:
